Hetalia Piri - Oblation Run and France...

The Oblation Run is celebrated during the last few weeks of December in the UP Campus. The main point is that these men run naked (well, they do wear masks) as a sign of protesting. They give roses to some lucky girls along the way. And who did I think of?? XD

The Oblation Run (sometimes referred to as the Ritual Dance of the Brave) is an annual event held by several Filipino chapters of Alpha Phi Omega (APO) in different universities in the Philippines. The event first organized in 1977 at University of the Philippines Diliman to promote Hubad na Bayani (Tagalog for Naked Hero), a play. It draws its name from the Oblation, a statue of a nude man located in every University of the Philippines (UP) campus, which symbolizes "a selfless offering of one’s self to the country." The event is usually done on December 16, and serves as a protest to contemporary national issues.

Participants of the Diliman Oblation Run are male APO members numbering 24 on average. Women participating in the event, however, is not unheard of. Runners usually bear masks to hide their identities, and may wear leaves to cover their genitals. They usually hand roses to a number of female spectators.

My experience:
1st Year:
I was just casually walking around Palma Hall because my next class was at 1. I was just weirded out by the huge number of people inside the hall. It is common for it to have lots of people. But not that much!
So...I just walked around for a bit and I received a flyer. It was the Oblation Run Day. And I was there at around 1130. The Oblation Run would start at 12.
So for the heck of it, I stayed. I mean, it would be a UP experience, right? So, I waited there and suddenly someone came up to me.
"Ate, busy po ba kayo? (Ate, are you busy? *Ate is the formal or polite term to call an older sister)" the girl with a yellow ribbon asked me. I should have seen that signal.
"Hindi naman. Bakit? (Not really, why?)
"Ah! Kung okay lang, pakihawak lang itong banner. Thank you! (Ah! If it's okay, would you please hold up this banner? Thank you!)" and she left me holding up a huge tarpaulin banner with several other girls holding it up.

Then, there were several security guards and people with ribbons lining us up, like they were making way for a road...but why was I on the very side of that road.

My answer came to me in a few minutes. Running....men....roses.....screams of the people....and-
OH DEAR LORD. I should have seen the signs! But oh well, I got front view! XD. I even got a rose...woah.

But anyway, what's worse was that a camera lady tried to interview the people who were on the frontlines...meaning us with the banners. I can't recall who the reporter was, but I know it was from GMA due to the cameraman. I didn't go for an interview...but I did hide my face. I'd rather not. XD.

And...when it ended. I finally got to let go and the Ate from before came back and thanked me. "Nagenjoy ka? (Did you enjoy it?)" and I could tell her smile was...yeah. She meant to do that...
I just said. "Sobra (So much.) Sa susunod ulit ha~ (Next time again~!)" and I winked at her as she continued laughing. I just left for my next class...

I hadn't gone to another Oblation Run after that. Well, main reasons involve class hours, missed it...or like I already saw one...but maybe I could see another one someday~.
